JAY SOUCY
Meet Jay, the proprietor of Mount Washington CrossFit and Evergreen Sports Center. While currently residing in Bath, NH, Jay's roots trace back to Methuen, MA. A lifelong passion for coaching has seen him delve into various sports, ranging from baseball and softball to gymnastics and Olympic Weightlifting. Jay's journey in gymnastics began at the age of 6, and he continued to train and compete through high school. His dedication to coaching stems from the profound fulfillment of helping others overcome obstacles, perfect movements, and learn new tricks or skills.
Though Jay found himself in Littleton, NH somewhat unexpectedly, his consistent presence at the gym every morning and his commitment to coaching, even off the clock, is no accident. Embracing CrossFit for ten years now,
Asked about his favorite aspects of CrossFit and what fuels his daily return, Jay emphasizes the sense of community and the constant variety inherent in CrossFit workouts. The diverse physical and mental impact of each session keeps him engaged and consistently improving. If you're contemplating CrossFit, Jay empathetically shares, "If you're scared, nervous, confused, embarrassed, we were too. You need to communicate that with your coach. We understand because we have been there, and half of this still scares us too."
Jay's most significant piece of advice to all his athletes revolves around patience. Recognizing the diversity in backgrounds, body types, and gifts, he encourages trusting the process and expressing frustrations to coaches during challenging times. Jay assures his athletes that they are continually improving and that their heart health and longevity are the primary mission, surpassing the focus on the extra 20 pounds on their clean & jerk lift.
CrossFit has fundamentally transformed Jay's life, redefining his priorities where fitness equates to health. With over 30 years of coaching experience and certifications in Gymnastics, CrossFit Level one, Weightlifting, and CPR/AED, Jay remains dedicated to future certifications while guiding others on their fitness journey.
